I have an open door policy with parents and carers. I created a powerpoint for new parents to the school and attended the Kindergarten information session at the beginning of 2017 with the Kindy Team to provide an overview of the Year for new parents. I invite parents to participate in classroom activities such as reading with students or assisting with literacy. Each Friday afternoon we have Open Door Friday which enables parents to join the end of the day learning activity. I am available via email or phone and I am prepared to meet with parents early morning or after school. I contact parents to discuss ILPs and PLPs as well as to inform them of awards and assemblies.

I have created a ‘take home book’ which each child takes home to show their families. The book contains photographs of student learning.

Parents also attend for Grandfriends Day, learning journeys, parent/teacher interviews, fetes, assemblies, and concerts.

Grand friends Day – my parents attending to support students whose parents/carers are unable to attend.
